Description
MOTS-c is a 16-amino acid peptide encoded within the mitochondrial genome's 12S rRNA region — one of the first identified mitochondria-derived signaling peptides. Foundational research (Cell Metabolism, 2015) reported that MOTS-c activates AMPK signaling via the folate-methionine cycle, improving glucose uptake and insulin sensitivity in skeletal muscle and preventing diet-induced obesity in mouse models. Circulating levels rise with exercise, and researchers study it as a candidate mediator of exercise-associated metabolic adaptation. Supplied for in-vitro laboratory research only — not for human or veterinary use.
