Description
Human chorionic gonadotropin (HCG) is a heterodimeric glycoprotein hormone that binds the LH/CG receptor (LHCGR), a G-protein coupled receptor also activated by luteinizing hormone. Research has shown HCG and LH act as biased agonists at this shared receptor — producing distinct signaling kinetics and efficacy despite binding the same site — with HCG activating cAMP/PKA, ERK, and (at higher concentrations) phospholipase C pathways.
